Friday Night Football #2

Kids,

Come Thursday of the following week I was in Tama, Iowa
with plans to make it to Nevada, Iowa a mear 8 towns away.

I called ahead to alert a Lincoln Highway friend of my impending arrival.

He was all excited and said if I could make it by 7,
the "Spirit of the Lincoln Way" could be in the Homecoming Parade.

Can you believe it, Homecoming again for the second week in a row.

Well, 8 towns doesn't sound like many, but by the time you stop,
meet with everyone and put up The Flag,
it was all I could do to make it in time for the Parade.

In fact, when I finally did roll into town there were only seconds to spare.

My friend guided me to the end of the line,
as he and his wife hopped on board and off we went.

There was only time to take this one shot.

Whew, made that one by the hair on my chinny chin chin!!

The following night, prior to "The Big Game",

I met with the Firemen and the local Lincoln Highway Group for photos.

Nevada leads the Nation in Celebrating The Lincoln Highway,
their annual Lincoln Highway Days Celebration is now in its 18th year.

Shortly thereafter, we made the pilgrimage to the Football Field

and once again, "Old Glory" went up as the band played the National Anthem.

The crowd was quite spirited as they cheered for their mighty "Cubs".

Unfortunately, the game was a rout and the Cubs lost their umpteenth in a row.

But, that didn't dampen the Spirits of the Cheerleaders

as they posed for the now traditional Group shot

and signed the Football Program for display at the Museum.

In Closing, I guess this photo best sums up the "Spirit of Nevada".
