Pressed into Service, Again
On Friday before the "Big Game",
my friend made arrangements to put me to work.
As the story goes...
Several years ago, the school board
purchased an existing structure for their new Bus Garage.
Out front was this beautiful 75' flag pole,
but there was only one problem.
The line was all tangled up,
so in all the years as part of the school system,
it had never flown "Old Glory".
But good things come to those who wait...
Shortly after 8 am, all parties met at the Flag Pole,
the Bus Superintendent, The American Legion, the Local Paper and my Friend.
I backed the Fire Engine up to the Flag Pole in preparation for my lofty assent,

then posed for this historic photo.

I offered the job to any and all takers, but there were none,

so, up I went, 85 feet to the top.

Several minutes later, a new line was threaded,

the Legionaires attached The Flag,

and once again "Old Glory was proudly flying in the breeze.
Later, we took a ride to the local Gas Station, courtesy of the Legionaires.

In case you noticed,
the title is, "Pressed into Service, Again".
The first time was last year at a McDonald's,
just outside of Washington, DC.

Look Familiar??
