Union Pacific Joins the Club

Kids,

As you might recall,
when I arrived in Cheyenne
it was not under the best of conditions.

Do the words,
Carrier Bearing
sound familiar??

In any event,
after a good week of fooling around
under the truck with the drive train,
the "Spirit of the Lincoln Way"
was finally ready to roll again.

First stop on the list was a trip to
the Union Pacific Steam Shop for a visit
with Steve, Bob and, of course
the Challenger-#3985.

Here she is in all her Glory...

and here she is getting her tubes flushed.

After a short visit with Bob and Crew,
we set out to raise
The Union Pacific Flag
for the Very First Time.

We started with this configuration,

but then moved the Union Pacific up,
both for astetics and because
the Union Pacific came before
The Lincoln Highway.

We kept waiting for the proper background,
then a pair of Union Pacific engines
pulled up to take on fuel.

Perfect!!

Now if only the sun would cooperate.

Several days later we tried again,
this time with a photographer from the Cheyenne Eagle.

The photo ran on page two the following day.

Again,
Bob diligently uploaded photos...

Then, on the way out of the Union Pacific Yard,
I happened to spy a rather interesting site.

Check it out...

An old GALION Road Grader!!!

Do the words,
Grit,
Ambition,
Loyalty,
Industry,
Organization,
Nobility...

Mean anything??
Why of course,

GALION...

That's the Town!!!
