Bingo...with Flags Flying
Back in Cheyenne,
I stopped by the Supply Department
to pick up some Union Pacific stickers
for the truck.

We looked "High and Low"
back in North Platte,
but couldn't find any,
so they had some sent to Cheyenne.
During the course of the conversation,
the supply manager said,
"Did you see the Union Pacific is
going to paint American Flags
on their engines in response to 9-11?"

BINGO,
this was the card I'd been waiting for.
He went right to the UP Web Site
and printed off a copy of the press release.

I saw a big American Flag flying
out one of the engineers window,
but wasn't fast enough to get a shot.
At the time I thought,
"Boy wouldn't that be neat if
all the engines had flags on them?"
Do, Do, Do, Do...
In any event,
The press release said,
Dick Davidson,
Chairman of the Board
was making an inspection tour
using two of the new locomotives.
Then it said,
Well, I couldn't make Ogden,
and I couldn't wait for Cheyenne,
but I could make Rawlins 5 days away.
OK,
so here's the plan...
I catch the train in Rawlins,
meet with Mr. Davidson,
introduce him to Mr. Lincoln
and discuss the idea of a "Special"
made up of the new Flag Engines
carrying "America's Fire Truck"
back to New York.
All on November 19th,
the 138th Anniversary of
The Gettysburg Address.
What could be more Perfect??
I double checked the time table just to be sure.
The train would arrive at 1735 military time.
I quickly did the math...
Let's see,
that would be 7:30...Right?
