One More Time
OK,
One more time...

I went up to C-N-R to say thanks for staying late,
and

to take a picture of their work bench.
I thought it very clever.
Do you see the channel on the front edge?
Whenever they have a hose to measure or work on,
they just set it in there.
That way it dosen't go all over the place
and you can hold it against the lip to keep it straight.
They even made adjustable End Blocks
to slide over and butt up for multiple cuts.
They need to work on the tape measure,
perhaps a solid brass rule would serve best.
In any event,
I'm always amazed at the inovative ability of Man.
"Where there's a Will there's a Way."
and
"Necessity is the Mother of Invention"
come to mind.
Ok, back to the story...
Then it was off to the Standard-Examiner
to see Charlie and say,
"Thanks"
for his two wonderful stories.

Check out those Flag Gloves!!!
Got them at C-N-R Hose.
See there was a reason for the PS failure.
I think they're pretty neat.
In any event,
then it was back to Fire Station #4

so C-shift could sign the Christmas Tin
and old Head Gasket.
This is Ryan and Travis,
both real live bronk riders.
Even had time to stop at "Union Station" for a few shots.

This is the outside,

and one of the two massive front doors.

Inside there are two murials one on each end.
Both depict the building of the Transcontinental Railroad.
Speaking of which...

there are several vintage UP engines on display.
The 6916 is the largest desiel ever built for the UP.
It is actually two in one,
if you look close you can see
it's double the size of a normal engine.
They also have one of the original trestles
that crossed the Great Salt Lake

There was one every 15 feet for over 20 miles...
It took a whole forest to build it...

Here you can see the route.
I think they call it the Layton cut off...
If you look at the top of the map
you can see the original 1869 route
and Golden Spike Historic Site.
The Cut off was apparently much shorter
and more economical.
The Station also is home
to part of the Browning Gun Collection.

Look familiar...
The famous BAR in the forground,
and both 30 and 50 calibers in the background.
Seems Mr. Browning almost single handedly won WWII.
This clock is made from WWI shells and bullets.
Pretty Neat.

No doubt, many were fired through Browning Rifles.
They also have part of his Car Collection.

What can you say about this???
Well, enough of the tour...
Needless to say,
If you're ever in Ogden,
Union Station is a "Must See".
OK, then it was off to Whitehead Electric
to return an electrical switch for the Fire Truck.

They'd seen me on KSL-TV and just had to come out
and have their picture taken with Mr. Lincoln.

Then finally to Brett's Towing...
It only took me three tries,
but I finally made it.
That's Brett with Mr. Lincoln.
If it hadn't been for Brett, well...

Then it was up to Western Radiator,
they fixed a multitude of leaks
that were partially responsible
for the initial breakdown.
Then it was back to Dean's for the last time...
