Dwight
Braman founded the Allied Patriotic Societies in 1920
with the intention of devoting his remaining years
to the service of his country.
The Allied Patriotic Societies
represented 49 different patriotic organizations.
For
many years he was a railroad engineer with projects
in many parts of the country including Alaska.
During
the Spanish American War he joined the First Cadets Corps
of Massachusetts and offered to raise and equip a cavarlry regiment.
In
addition he gave his yacht the Fredonia to the government
as a Lighthouse tender.
At
one time he was President of the San Diego Land & Town Company,
a director of the Boston Water Power Company,
and reciever for the St Louis Kansas City Railroad.
He was a member of the New York Stock Exchange for 36 years.
In
1927 he donated the 35 State Flag Day Proclamations
to the Library of Congress.
In 1928 he came up with a plan to reclaim the Sahara Desert.
